A Multi-Site Finale
Rotherham spent a year as the world's first Children's Capital of Culture, and The Birthday Party closed it. The event was free and ran from 11am to 9pm, spread across All Saints Square, Rotherham Minster, Minster Gardens and the Imperial Buildings, with the outdoor arts company Walk the Plank as artistic directors.
We delivered the production across the live sites. That covered staging and sound for the daytime and evening programmes, a lit stage for the evening performances, and festoon lighting and uplighting around the Minster after dark. The centrepiece was a large-scale illuminated installation built in collaboration with Walk the Plank, alongside the youth-led live music takeover on the main stage.
